Using traditional materials, artisanal craftsmanship, and an atmosphere of comfort and hospitality we were able to express the spirit of the Southern lifestyle right here in beautiful South Florida.

This 9,000 square foot home located on the waterfront just south of coveted Las Olas Boulevard is inspired by the vernacular architecture and design of the owners’ true southern roots. The couple, having moved from their beloved Memphis, Tennessee worked with Knowles Design to translate their desires into a home that reflects the charm and inviting style of the American South.  Responding to today’s shift towards homes designed for a more casual lifestyle, this home masterfully blends elements of Classical design with the Southern vernacular. Interiors and exteriors combine the formal and informal. Simultaneously elegant and casual, this waterfront home mixes eclectic elements from Southern cottages such as reclaimed brick and variable width wood plank flooring with Classic Revival details including beamed ceilings with tongue and groove, and walls with wainscot paneling. Designed for relaxed family living, this home features a Great Room centered around an oversize precast fireplace with a herringbone brick firebox, a Kitchen with two islands, and an oversize Game and Media Room complete with pool table and bar — all with a waterfront view. Using traditional materials, artisanal craftsmanship, and an atmosphere of comfort and hospitality we were able to express the spirit of the Southern lifestyle right here in beautiful South Florida.

Jennifer made this entire process so easy! We were expecting the opposite, and are so happy to be wrong.
