Luxurious fabrics, luscious colors, a mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings and interesting architectural details were the elements used to create this stunning space.

The stately proportions of this sprawling Oceanfront estate designed by Fred Bissinger and built by Hugh Davis in the Normandy style might lead you to believe you’re at an estate in northern France. The view is glorious, and the house is the very definition of glamour and elegance. Anything done on such a monumental scale can be a little intimidating, so the challenge here was to take this very formal house and turn it into a warm and comfortable home. Standing in the Grand Salon I felt a thrill of excitement because the space was so grand, but I knew exactly how to make it work for us. Big, generous sofas and chairs upholstered in tea-colored velvet and blue-grey damask silk are worked into three separate seating areas that anchor the large, double-height space. All the walls and trim were painted in layers of a champagne-inspired color to create warmth and texture. Luxurious fabrics, luscious colors, a mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings and interesting architectural details were the elements used to create this stunning space.
